Sarah Emanuel, LCSW

Sarah Emanuel is an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in New York. Sarah graduated at the top of her class with a Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University in Manhattan in 2010. She specializes in working with a variety of individuals and groups who have struggled with addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression, marital concerns, behavioral concerns, and family conflict amongst others. She is skilled in establishing a healing relationship with those she treats as she utilizes a nonjudgmental, LGBTQQAI+ affirming, strengths based, harm reduction, and empathetic approach in her therapy. In addition, Sarah has a background in fine arts and therefore creatively combines various methods of expressive art into her treatment with individuals.

Sarah specializes in working with individuals who have struggled with addictions, trauma, prenatal/postpartum and infertility concerns, and infant sleep concerns. Additionally, she is trained in and utilizes EMDR to support those who are struggling with symptoms of addictions, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Sarah’s past social work experience includes working with adjudicated youth who had committed sexual behavior crimes. In addition to this, Sarah completed her fieldwork assignments at a middle school in the Bronx, NY and an LGBTQ high school in Manhattan, NY. Upon graduation, Sarah became a Multisystemic Treatment Therapist doing home visits in the Bronx and Westchester, NY. During this time, Sarah skillfully engaged families and youth in treatment. The youth Sarah worked with faced emotional, psychiatric and behavioral difficulties. Sarah went on to become a supervisor and clinical therapist for a homeless youth program in Westchester, NY.

Sarah is the founder and owner of Sugar Loaf Mental Wellness, LCSW, PLLC. Sarah utilizes the following treatment interventions:

Elizabeth Bruinix-Parris, LCSW

Elizabeth Bruinix-Parris, LCSW graduated with her Masters Degree from Marywood University in 2016 and has worked in the Hudson Valley ever since. She has worked in hospitals locally as well as a mobile mental health team. She has extensive knowledge in crisis management, acute mental health care, and providing services to a variety of populations.

Elizabeth is passionate about providing support to individuals of all ages. She is dedicated to supporting the LGBTQQAI+ population, including individual, couple and family therapy. Her passion as a therapist surrounds treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and adjustment disorders. 

Some of the modalities she uses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Play Therapy, Couples Therapy, and Family Therapy. 

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her Wife, fur-babies, friends, and family. Elizabeth enjoys movement in the form of dancing, going to the gym, or riding her bike. Fall is her favorite time of year and loves all the fall activities in the Hudson Valley. 

 

Shoshi D.

Shoshi D. was born on December 17, 2017 she is a sweet English Springer Spaniel who is a certified therapy dog. Ms. Shoshi D. works at various children’s hospitals, libraries, VA centers, and hospice facilities to provide love and support to those that are suffering from significant medical problems. Shoshi also provides animal assisted interventions in the therapy room with her handler Sarah Emanuel and is a kind and loving addition to treatment.
